Shopify's native bin name never leaves Shopify. There is no API for it, so every bin location app keeps its own copy

Shopify added a Bin name column to the inventory CSV on August 25, 2025. It holds one bin per variant per location, it is created only by CSV import, and it prints on Order Printer pick lists. What it does not do is leave Shopify. Shopify staff confirmed on the developer forum in October 2025 and again in January 2026 that there is no public API access to the field, and the developer forum was still reporting the gap in June 2026. That single fact shapes the whole category: EasyScan and iPacky store bins in metafields, Bins-USA and ShelfPilot store them in their own databases, and a free app called Simple Bin Locations copies metafield bins into order notes so packing slips can show them. Shopify's own multi-bin model, with per-bin quantities and an unbinnedQuantity field, exists today only as a feature preview on development stores. Pricing, plan gates, and where each app keeps the bin data, verified on the Shopify App Store, the Shopify Help Center, shopify.dev, and the Shopify community forums on September 18, 2026.

Shopify Has No 'New Blog Post' Email — Its Atom Feed Stops at 30 Posts, Flow Has No Article Trigger, and Only One of the Email Apps We Compared Fires on Publish

Merchants who move from WordPress expect a new blog post to email their subscribers automatically. On Shopify it doesn't. The only native subscription is an Atom feed that readers paste into a feed reader, and a live test on September 18, 2026 shows that feed returns at most 30 posts, ignores paging, and carries no featured image. Shopify Flow's 83 triggers include nothing for articles, and Shopify Messaging's templates have no blog section and no blog Liquid variable. Here is what the native pieces actually do, and how Seguno, Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Omnisend, Workflow Trigger Extensions, and Zapier each handle the moment you click Publish. Researched September 18, 2026.

Horizon Ships a "Shop the Look" Section Its Theme Store Page Never Mentions. Dawn Has None. And the Apps Count Looks, Lookbooks and Galleries as Three Different Things.

All 23 free themes in the Shopify Theme Store are tagged with 'Lookbooks' except one, and none of them is tagged with 'Image hotspot'. Shopify's own listing guidelines define those tags differently: a lookbook is 'a portfolio of images', a hotspot is 'interactive hotspots for popups'. The tag is not the whole story. Horizon 4.1.5 ships a 'Product hotspots' section whose default heading is literally 'Shop the look', with one product per pin and a quick-add popover; Dawn 16.0.0 has no equivalent section. What the section cannot do is add a whole outfit to the cart in one click, discount it, or report the revenue — which is what the apps sell. Five of them are compared here, and their free plans meter five different units: Byte counts 1 lookbook, Ace counts 5 looks, Lookfy counts 1 gallery of 50 photos sourced from uploads only, Nitro counts 1 active lookbook, and FourCore counts 2 looks inside 1 lookbook. Lookfy's $5.99 and $12.99 plans are marked 'Not available in shopify plus' on the App Store. Verified against themes.shopify.com, shopify.dev, the Shopify/horizon and Shopify/dawn GitHub repositories and live App Store pages on September 18, 2026.

Shopify Says On Hand = Committed + Unavailable + Available. Two Top-Ranked 'Available vs On Hand' Guides Drop the Middle Term

Shopify's Help Center says On hand is the total of Committed, Unavailable, and Available. Two top-ranked guides for 'Shopify available vs on hand' say Available = On hand − Committed, and drop Unavailable entirely. That missing term is where third-party app holds live: Shopify's own adjustment-history documentation says inventory a third-party app holds is displayed as Unavailable, while a draft order reservation is displayed as Committed. Underneath, the Admin API tracks eight quantity names and collapses four of them into one admin label. On August 5, 2026 Shopify migrated draft order, transfer, and shipment holds out of reserved and into committed, which moved units from the Unavailable column into the Committed column with a one-time correction entry. Apps cannot write committed at all, inventorySetQuantities only sets on_hand or available, and Shopify documents that changes to five of the eight states fire no webhook. Here is what each number means, what the August migration changed, which state syncX: Stock Sync, Trunk, Prediko, and Sumtracker actually touch, and how to audit your own store from the admin. Shopify documentation and vendor pricing pages verified September 8, 2026.

Shopify's New Disclosures Field Has a Jurisdictions Setting. Nothing in Shopify's Own Documentation Says It Filters What Buyers See

Shopify shipped structured product disclosures on June 17, 2026: a shopify.disclosure product metafield backed by eight Shopify-governed entry types, four for California Proposition 65 and four for CPSC choking hazards. Each entry carries a Jurisdictions field, and it is easy to read that as geo-targeting. It isn't. The reference Liquid section Shopify publishes loops every disclosure on the product with no jurisdiction check, and the Storefront API page tells developers to "filter by jurisdictions against the buyer's market" themselves. Disclosures are stored at the product grain, not per variant. They aren't available in contextual product feeds for sales channels. Rendering them in checkout takes a Checkout UI extension, which is Shopify Plus only. The same field also stores CPSC eFiling reference IDs, which became mandatory for regulated imports on July 8, 2026 with no de minimis exemption, and which Shopify Shipping carriers can't pass to brokers at the border. This article maps what the native field does and doesn't do, then compares what Warnify Pro Warnings, Warn Checkout Country Warnings, Product Warnings/Notifications, GPSR Suite, and GPSR Kit ‑ EU Compliance actually add. Pricing, ratings, and documentation verified September 8, 2026.
