Shopify Sticky Add to Cart in 2026: Horizon Themes Now Have One Built In (Without a Variant Picker), and How Six Apps Meter What They Charge For

Shopify's ten free Horizon themes ship a Sticky add to cart bar, on by default, but the bar has no variant selector or quantity input. Dawn still has none. Here is what the native bar does, when an app is still worth installing, and how STKY, Buy Me, EA, Square, Buy Button, and TVARKA count add-to-cart clicks, orders, or your Shopify plan to set the price.

Shopify Walmart integration apps compared: US seller requirements, GTIN rules, and what each app actually charges

Selling on Walmart from Shopify starts with Walmart's own approval, not an app install. We confirm the Tax ID, GTIN, and warehouse requirements from Walmart's own guide, then compare Shopify Marketplace Connect, CedCommerce Walmart Connector, DPL Walmart Integration, and GeekSeller Walmart Integration on pricing, order limits, and review evidence as of September 2026.

Your Shopify App Free Trial Is a 180-Day Budget, Not a Clock — and Only the Developer Can Refund You

Two things about Shopify app charges are documented and almost never read together. First, a free trial is not a countdown that restarts when you reinstall: Shopify App Pricing tracks trial days over a 180-day window, per plan, and previously consumed days are subtracted from new totals. Second, the refund is not Shopify's to give. The Help Center is explicit that refunds for third-party app charges are managed by the developer, that refund decisions are at the developer's discretion, and that Shopify can't remove a pending charge once it has been added to your invoice. The developer's own limits are narrower than most merchants expect: they can't refund anything above $1,000.00 USD, can't touch invoices older than 12 months, and on ACH-paid invoices are capped at 90 days. Verified against Shopify's Help Center, shopify.dev, and the App Store listings for Matrixify, Loox, and Klaviyo on September 13, 2026.

Shopify's AI Product Video Apps Charge $0.04 to $1.29 a Video — and One Won't Tell You the Number at All

Shopify Magic's own media generation tools cover background removal, logo generation, and hero banners — images only, per Shopify's Help Center. There is also an unrelated app literally named 'Magic: Product Photos & Videos' that charges $19.99–$49.99/month and has nothing to do with Shopify. Meanwhile, eight real AI product-video apps bill on five incompatible units: credits, videos, points, a flat $1 per video, and one-time packs with no subscription at all. Normalized to a real cost per finished video, the spread runs from about $0.04 to $1.29 — roughly 32x — and one app's $39–$99/month plans don't disclose a video quota at all. Researched September 6, 2026.

Shopify has no native AI size recommendation feature — which plan actually turns on AI at CartCoders, Kiwi, and SmartSize?

Shopify metafields can display a static size chart, but there is no native engine that recommends a size from height, weight, and age. AI Fit Finder Size Recommender (CartCoders) includes AI recommendations on every plan, from $9.99 to $99.99/month based on order volume. Kiwi Size Chart & Recommender has no AI on its free plan — the machine-learning recommender only unlocks at Plus ($14.99/month) or higher. SmartSize has no AI feature on Free, Starter, or Growth; the "Find my size" quiz only unlocks at Pro 100 ($19/month), capped at 100 users per month. We compared the pricing structure and a documented order-based billing incident across all three, based on first-party Shopify App Store (en-US) listings checked on September 6, 2026.

Shopify Has No Bill of Materials — and the Four Apps That Fix It Meter You on Four Different Units

Shopify tracks finished goods. It does not track the fabric, the fragrance oil, or the envelope. The closest native thing is the free Shopify Bundles app, and its documentation is explicit about where it stops: bundles can't contain other bundles, they don't support import, export or bulk editing, and a component SKU change forces you to delete and recreate the bundle. Shopify's own help page tells you to use a third-party app for detailed component tracking. Four of them, verified September 6, 2026: Material Manager bills only on orders per month ($19.99 for 2,000), Materials Inventory bills on raw material count plus orders plus locations (from $39), Craftybase bills on order lines — a three-item order costs you three (from $24), and Katana Cloud Inventory jumps from a 30-SKU free plan straight to $299/month plus volume and add-ons. At 2,000 orders a month the same job costs $29.99 or $299 depending on which meter you signed up for.

Shopify Won't Schedule a Christmas Gift Card Until September 26 — and the Apps That Fix It Meter You Five Different Ways

Shopify's native gift card recipient form caps scheduled delivery at 90 days out, the message at 200 characters, and breaks entirely if the customer uses an accelerated checkout button. Customers also can't type a custom amount. Meanwhile, stores created on or after May 12, 2025 now pay third-party transaction fees when a gift card is redeemed, and Shopify's own five-year expiry default sits exactly on the federal floor in 12 CFR 1005.20. Six real gift card apps compared on the only thing that decides your bill: what each one counts. Researched September 6, 2026.

Shopify POS can now scan multiple barcodes per variant. There is still nowhere to enter them

On September 1, 2026, Shopify announced that Shopify POS can identify a product variant using any barcode associated with it — GTIN, EAN, ASIN, or SKU-based codes — automatically in POS v11.14. The announcement ends by saying additional barcodes must first be associated with the variant in Shopify admin. The POS help page was updated to match, but the admin-side documentation still describes a single Barcode field, and on September 3 a Shopify Partner reported on the developer forums that nothing new appears in the admin or in the APIs, including unstable. Here is what the primary sources actually say as of September 6, 2026, and how EasyScan Inventory & Barcode, iPacky, and syncX price alternate barcodes today.
