Shopify ERP Apps: $199.92 a Month, $24,000 a Year, or Free to Install — and Why All Three Are the Same Product Category
There is no Shopify-built NetSuite connector — the App Store listing's developer is Oracle NetSuite, and Shopify's Global ERP Program contains exactly five certified apps. The published prices run from $80/month to $24,000/year, and Free to install almost always carries the line External charges may be billed by the developer separately from your Shopify invoice. Every vendor meters a different unit: feature set, actions, orders, endpoints and flows, annual sale orders, per order. Ten real apps compared with pricing quoted verbatim from the listing, plus what Shopify covers natively and why none of this requires Plus. Researched September 3, 2026.
Shopify Already Has a Free File Upload Field. Your Cart Drawer May Be Eating It.
Almost every 'best Shopify file upload app' article skips the part where Shopify documents a free, all-plans file upload field on the product form. It works — until an AJAX cart drawer silently discards it, a failure mode Shopify filed against its own Dawn theme and fixed there in 2021, but which still hits any theme or app that serializes add-to-cart properties. And Shopify confirmed in August 2026 that natively uploaded files have no lifetime and no deletion policy, so they sit on the public CDN indefinitely. The apps that fix this meter on five incompatible units, including one that sells you retention length: three months for $9.95, twelve months for $24.95. Prices verified on the Shopify App Store September 3, 2026.
Shopify Files has no folders, but it does have filters and saved views: what file manager apps actually add
Nearly every published guide to organizing Shopify files opens with the claim that Content > Files has no search, no filters, and no tags. Checked against the Shopify Help Center on September 3, 2026, that is wrong. Files ships four filters — File size, File type, Used in, and Alt text — plus is/is not and or/and logical operators and saved views, which behave as saved queries rather than containers. A Revert to original button also exists and works on media in Content > Files, though it is a single restore point that discards every media-editor edit at once, cannot itself be undone, and does nothing for files swapped with Replace. Staff View, Create, and Edit permissions for Files exist too. What is genuinely missing is folder hierarchy, per-file access control, and version management for replaced files. This article maps the real boundary, documents two places where the Help Center contradicts itself (Replace URL behavior and Files column editing), lists every plan storage cap from Basic at 100 GB to Enterprise at 10 TB along with the separate video count and video storage caps, and covers paid increases at $100 USD/month per 1 TB for Plus. It then compares seven file manager and DAM apps across three architectures — metadata folders, external S3, and external DAM — with pricing, review counts, and data access as of September 3, 2026, including a delisted app that shows what happens when a metadata folder layer disappears.
Shopify Return Labels Are 'Available Only for US Domestic Orders' — And Refunding Duties Is Not Recovering Them
The Shopify Help Center says return labels are available only for US domestic orders, and the option requires your primary location and the customer's shipping address to both be in the United States. A US store with a customer in Berlin gets two native choices: Upload a return label, or No shipping required. The widely repeated claim that Shopify cannot refund duties is wrong — the admin has checkboxes for it and the Admin API exposes refundDuties with PROPORTIONAL and FULL. The real trap is that refunding duties to the shopper is not the same as recovering them from the destination customs authority, which Shopify says aren't always recoverable. This compares how seven returns apps actually source an international label, and what each costs in USD at 60 international returns a month. Researched September 3, 2026.
Shopify's rate request has no dimensions — how LTL freight quote apps work around it
Shopify's CarrierService rate request carries a weight in grams per line item and no length, width, or height, and a product variant has no native dimension field. Shopify's own documentation says only the default package's dimensions are used in the checkout. Old Dominion's LTL rate API, by contrast, requires per-item dimensions, freight class, and NMFC. That gap is why every LTL app keeps dimensions in metafields or a CSV. Eight apps compared on USD pricing, from free-to-install up to $600 per month, plus billing denominator, CCS plan requirement, and accessorial handling, and worked numbers from the Estes, ODFL, and XPO liftgate schedules. Shopify marketing attribution apps vs. the built-in reports: what Shopify's default model actually is
Shopify's own help center names two different default attribution models: Last non-direct click for marketing activity data in Growth, and Last click in the Analytics report configuration panel. The lookback window is 30 days, and every built-in model is click-based, so an impression-heavy Meta campaign tends to look weaker in Shopify than in Ads Manager. This article quotes both passages and compares eight attribution apps on the unit each one bills against: orders, transactions, monthly tracked visitors, online GMV, yearly GMV, or a fixed feature tier. Includes a worked cost example for two stores of similar size. Researched September 3, 2026.
Shopify Stores One Consent State Per Channel, and Only Three Values Are Writable
Shopify's customer record holds one marketing consent state per channel — email, SMS, and now WhatsApp — and `customerEmailMarketingConsentUpdate` accepts only `SUBSCRIBED`, `UNSUBSCRIBED`, and `PENDING`. There is no native object for topics or frequency, `marketingUnsubscribeUrl` is documented as unsubscribing a member from all mailing lists, and the Shopify Messaging unsubscribe destination can't be modified to direct elsewhere. We could not identify a dedicated preference-center app in the Shopify App Store, so we compared five real listings — Shopify Messaging, Klaviyo, Omnisend, Attentive, and Postscript — on where the preference page lives and what actually writes back to Shopify. None of the vendors documents a topic-level preference change reaching Shopify's consent state. Researched September 3, 2026.
Ship one Shopify order to multiple addresses: how the apps do it, and what it breaks
Shopify checkout accepts one shipping address per order, and the rule comes out of the data model rather than a single help-center sentence. Every app here that documents its mechanism splits the checkout into a parent order that holds the payment and child orders that hold the shipments, which fits the fact that US sales tax is mostly destination-sourced and one Shopify order cannot carry per-ZIP tax rates. Giftship documents the mechanism in full: a draft order, a parent order that is canceled and archived, and one child order per address. This article explains that mechanism, corrects three things merchants mistake for native support, and prices five apps on the unit they bill against — the destination, not the month.
